McConnell Farms

Old Dana Rd · Hendersonville, NC

A family farm since the 1940s.

Fruit and vegetables off our own 100 acres, ice cream we churn right here, and more figs than you'd guess grow in these mountains. Come by the farm store.

Figs, and the Fig Festival

About 5,000 fig plants, 68+ varieties. Festival details

Buying for a store or restaurant? We sell vegetables and apples wholesale. Call us.

Made on the farm since 1999

Ice cream that follows the harvest

It started with strawberry, churned in an antique Amish freezer run by an old hit-and-miss engine. These days the flavors change with whatever's coming out of the field.

  • Strawberry (always on)
  • Fig
  • Peach
  • Raspberry
  • Blackberry
  • Sweet potato
  • Sweet corn

We're a stop on the Hendersonville Ice Cream Trail. While you're here, grab a cider donut or a hand pie, and a jug of our fruit or vegetable cider.

Every September

The Fig Festival

We put in our first figs in 2010 and picked the first crop in 2011. Now there are about 5,000 plants and 68-plus varieties, some of them part of a cold-hardiness trial. Once a year we throw a party for them.

  • Fresh figs and fig preserves
  • Fig donuts, whole pies and fried pies
  • Three fig ice creams, bourbon maple fig among them
  • Farm tours with Danny
